About This Book

On Tuesday evening, around eight, frogs on lily pads rise into the air and fly through a sleeping town. They watch TV, chase a dog, and float past clotheslines. By morning, only lily pads remain. A nearly wordless book.

Why This Age

Caldecott Medal. The wordless format requires 5-6 year olds to construct the narrative themselves — a higher-order literacy skill.

How to Use

  • Let your child narrate the entire story to you
  • Discuss the clues: time stamps, the bewildered police, the pigs at the end
  • Try: 'What happens NEXT Tuesday?' (the book hints at this)
